Sugar Cookies with Lemon Icing
Sugar Cookies with Lemon Icing Sugar Cookies with Lemon Icing
These little gems couldn't be simpler. Just roll out cookie dough, sprinkle with pre-flavored sugars and pop in the oven. Decorate with a simple icing of lemon juice and powdered sugar.
SERVES: 16
PREP TIME: 20 Minutes
COOK TIME: 20 Minutes
Ingredients

1 Package Sugar Cookie Dough
Flavored Sugars
1/4 Cup Lemon Juice
1 Cup Powdered Sugar
Food Coloring (optional)

Directions
Step 1  Cookies:
Preheat oven to temperature suggested on package. Prepare and roll out the sugar cookie dough as directed on package for cut-out cookies. Cut into desired shapes and place on cookie sheet.
 
Step 2  Step 2:
Sprinkle each cookie with liberal amount of flavored sugar and bake for time directed on cookie package.
 
Step 3  Lemon Icing:
While cookies are baking, prepare icing by adding 1/4 cup of lemon juice to 1 cup of powdered sugar. Stir. If too thin, add more sugar; if too thick, add more lemon juice.
 
Step 4  Step 4:
Put lemon icing in a zip top bag and snip the very, very corner of the bag to make a piping bag for the icing. Can add food coloring, if desired. Once the cookies have cooled, decorate cookies with the icing as desired.
